Grading guar gum powder with vibro sifter

Screening Guar Gum Powder with high efficiency Vibro sieve

Guar gum also commonly known as guaran is a galactomannan, obtained & derived from the ground endosperm of the guar plant (guar beans).

The guar gum as a product is made using various techniques depending upon what purpose it is going to be used for; but, in general, guar seeds are mechanically de-husked, hydrated with water, milled & ground followed by a screening & sieving process to obtain finer grade powder.

Guar beans having thickening & stabilizing properties are used in a variety of products across food, feed, & multiple industrial applications. As the use of guar gum powder ranges from food, feed & other industrial applications, it is also manufactured & supplied as food grade guar gum powder & industrial grade guar gum powder in the market.

Talking about the production, the major contributor to the production of guar gum in India. India alone produces 2.5 – 3 million tons of guar annually making it almost 80% of global production. The reason India is the biggest producer is simply due to favorable climatic & soil conditions. In India, with fertile, well-drained sandy loam soil type & an optimal temperature of 30°c, the growing cycle (2-3 months) of the guar plant is fast. Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana are the main producing regions of India. Pakistan, the USA, Australia, & Africa are other contributors to guar apart from India.

Guar gum is said to be the by-product of mass as it has multiple usages across various food & industrial applications. The largest market for guar gum is the food industry. It is used in multiple products such as sauces, ketchup, soups, pickles, bread, bakery, confectionery products, frozen foods, ice cream, cakes, puddings, meat products, & noodles.

Its industrial applications list is also quite long. In the paper industry, it is used for improving sheet formation & achieving a denser surface for printing. It also plays a vital role in the cosmetic industry as being used for conditioner in shampoos & thickener in toothpaste. The pharmaceutical industry also relies on guar gum as a binder in tablets. Guar gum is widely used in the explosive industry as a waterproofing agent & in the textile industry, it is used for sizing, finishing, and printing.

The above usages & applications conclude the high demand for the best quality guar gum powder. Galaxy Sivtek has a wide range of Vibro sifters & Vibro sieves that can help in meeting the requirement for the best quality guar gum powder.

The manufacturing process for high-quality guar gum powder.

De-husking: The manufacturing process for guar gum powder starts to form de-husking the guar seeds. The seeds are roasted to remove husk & to obtain guar splits.

Screening: Check screening of obtained guar splits is carried out in order to remove & get rid of unwanted particles & dust. Linea Sivtek® or Sivtek Vibro Separator® or Super Sivtek Separator® could be the best option for screening guar splits.

Hydrating & drying: Further the screened guar gum splits are mixed with a comparative amount of water in a double-cone mixer to hydrate them. The pre-hydrating stage is very important because it determines the rate of hydration of the final product. After hydrating the splits, they are dried.

Milling & grinding: In order to get guar gum in powder form, the splits are ground. Grinding gives guar gum powder form.

Sieving & screening: The next process after milling is sieving & screening the obtained guar gum powder in order to get powder particles in the desired size. Oversize particles are either recycled to the main ultra-fine or reground in a separate regrind plant, according to the viscosity requirement.

The screening & sieving is an important part as manufacturers define different grades and qualities of guar gum by the particle size, the viscosity generated with a given concentration, and the rate at which that viscosity develops. Sieving machines from Galaxy Sivtek help to achieve desired particle size as we provide mesh ranging from coarse openings to fine openings.

The super output round Vibro sieve from the house of Galaxy Sivtek known as Super Sivtek Separator® has been installed at various guar gum manufacturing plants to screen the powder.

Super Sivtek Separator® is widely used for screening for more than a reason, the very first being its screening output capacity as compared to conventional Vibro sieve. Super Sivtek Separator® can provide up to 3 times output as compared to the conventional round separator.

Our ultra-modern sieving & screening machines are used at two major production stages as stated above. One is after de-husking & the other after milling the seeds.
