Committed To Quality, Committed To You
Activated carbon or activated charcoal, is a carbon which is processed to get small pores to increase the surface area. It’s a sorbent and used in lot many applications because of its unique physical and chemical properties. It’s widely used in many products like food & pharma, to purify drinking water, pollution control, automobiles, wastewater treatment, indoor air decontamination, for storing gas & energy etc.
Activated carbon processing industry’s primary focus on the quality of the final product. To improve the product quality of activated carbon powder, granules or pellets sieving is the most important process which helps to remove unwanted particles and impurities present in the material and make it free from all those impurities.
To produce the activated carbon the most common things used are wood, coconut shell and fossil coals. All the raw material (wood, coconut shell, fossil coals) must sieve first with heavy duty vibrating screen which helps to remove unwanted particles and packed for further process.
The most popular type of sorbents made from fossil coal which is in the form of cylindrical shape sorbents, granular sorbents, and powder sorbents. In order to make this sorbent we need to grind the coal first and prepare for the binding process where we add coal powder with raw material.
The coal powder is dumped with raw material into the mixer in order to bind the material and produce the coal resin paste. Then the paste is fed to the granulation process where pallets granules are formed under pressure. The subsequent stages are carbonation of the pallets at a temperature of 500 to 600 °c and activation is done at 900 to 950 °c.
The final products are in the form of cylindrical pellets, granules, and powder. All these products are check screened through a Vibro sifter to remove foreign impurities before packaging and help the customer to give the final quality product.
As we’ve discussed above Pyrolyzed wood and coconut shells are also used to produce the activated carbon. The process of manufacturing the activated carbon with pyrolyzed wood or coconut shells are the same. First the raw materials are screened with liner vibrating screen to remove impurities. At this stage the raw material are comes with large capacity and screening the material with quality is most important thing and our Linea Sivtek is there for you to achieve the quality product with maximum capacity.
After sorting the raw material, it passes through the magnetic belt separator to remove all possible metal inclusion and ferrous particles and dump into the furnace for an activation process with the use of vapour gas mixture at a temperature of 850 °c.
The activated carbon is now crushed and then grind to make it activated carbon powder. After that the powder is sieved to get the grades of it. Every industry has its own kind of need and for that it required the carbon powder size accordingly, with the help of Sivtek vibro separator you can achieve the different level of gradation which can be used in different application.
Galaxy Sivtek’s equipment reduces maintenance cost and assists the processing industry to obtain a high-quality product as well as increases their production rate. Ultimately increasing the profitability of the company. Need a sieving expert? Contact us now!
