Case Study: Achieving 15 TPH Rice Bran Screening with Higher Efficiency and Less Space

Overview

A rice bran processor based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India was facing limitations in their screening section. They had multiple manufacturers of vibro sifter machines with outputs far from their production objective.

Each 84″ vibro sifter was delivering around 1.5 tons per hour, and even after installing six machines, the total output reached only about 9 TPH. The requirement of the customer though was 15 TPH and there was no chance to have the system further expanded because of the space factors within the plant.

Challenge

The customer’s main issue was not just low output, but also the practicality of the setup. To achieve the desired throughput capacity with their existing technology, the customer would need to add several additional vibro sifters. This presented three significant issues:

  • Space limitations in the production area
  • The system required complicated material handling due to its multiple feeding and discharge points
  • Reduced screening efficiency, which was only between 85–88%

Even with six machines running, the plant could not reach the required capacity. Adding more machines would have increased installation costs, maintenance efforts, and operational complexity.

Solution

The Sivtek Tumbler Screen was suggested as an alternative to the current vibro sifters after the customer was analyzed on the application and screen parameters of the plant.

Unlike the conventional setup, the tumbler screen was capable of delivering 3 tons per hour per machine with a screening efficiency of 95%. This meant the customer could achieve higher throughput with fewer machines while also improving product quality.

The customer decided to replace all six vibro sifters with Sivtek Tumbler Screens. The new system resolved both capacity problems and increased efficiency throughout the entire screening area operations.

Result

The installation produced immediate measurable improvements:

  • Achieved the target output of 15 TPH
  • Output per machine doubled from 1.5 TPH to 3 TPH
  • Screening efficiency increased by nearly 10%, reaching 95%
  • Significant reduction in space usage
  • Material handling simplified with less machines and lines
  • Improved operational stability and product consistency

The new setup allowed the customer to meet their production goals without expanding the plant area or adding complicated conveying systems.

Conclusion

The customer could resolve both space and capacity limitations by substituting several low capacity vibro sifters with high-efficiency tumbler screens in one effort. The upgrade doubled the output per machine as well as increased the efficiency of the screening processes resulting in smooth running of the operations and quality of the products.

This case highlights how the right screening technology can reduce equipment count, simplify plant layout, and deliver higher productivity especially in applications like rice bran where both throughput and efficiency are critical.
